Benjamin Degen was born in Brooklyn, NY. He makes pictures of the people places and things he sees in the city and in the surrounding mountains, rivers, oceans and forests. His paintings use color, pattern, and abstraction to convey a world alive in a rhythmic pulse of interbeing.
Degen believes that all people have the ability to draw and can use its profound power for connection, vision and transformation. He has taught drawing to artists and non-artists of all ages.
Degen lives in New York’s Hudson Valley with painter Hope Gangloff and their dog Waggie.
